Art RotterdamThe 18th edition of Art Rotterdam immerses you for four days into the newest developments in contemporary art. Its focus on young art, the range of different sections, the connection with the city of Rotterdam and the historic venue - the UNESCO-listed Van Nelle Factory - give Art Rotterdam its unique identity. For growing numbers of art lovers, Art Rotterdam is the attractive alternative within the international field of art fairs and attracts more visitors every year. The third edition of Intersections is taking place opposite the main entrance of Art Rotterdam. It is an exhibition of installations, site-specific works and performances by non-profit spaces and artist initiatives. Increasingly more artists work with the internet as the starting point and transform its visual language into physical works of art. The exhibition Human / Digital: A symbiotic love affair in the Kunsthal Rotterdam presents an intriguing overview of the digital art from the Brown Family Collection. With spatial objects, projections and installations by international artists including Jon Rafman, Josh Kline and Rafaël Rozendaal, the exhibition shows the developments in Post-Internet Art. The highlights include Shezad Dawood's latest spectacular virtual reality work Kalimpong, which was a huge success at FRIEZE 2016, and Tabor Robak’s monumental work 2014, showing an ecstatic celebration of videogames and computer-generated images; funny and repulsive at the same time.Read more

 Nederlands Fotomuseum & LP228 January - 7 May 2017Europe. What else?

Showcasing the work of two contemporary photographers: Nico Bick and Otto Snoek. While one records the interiors of all the parliaments of the European Union, the other goes out to photograph the coming together of people in countless European cities. Neither project pronounces its opinion on Europe. But they do bring about depth and nuance; visitors are challenged to widen their views on Europe. The museum adds a third dimension to this in the form of the famous photo series The Europeans (Les Européens) created by the world-famous French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson in 1955. Haute Photographie is a new photography fair with a concept unlike any other. Haute is centred around a group exhibition, featuring works by photographers ranging from the grand masters in the history of photography to the youngest and most exciting talents working in the medium today. Dolf Henkes Award 2016The artists Daan Botlek, Rana Hamadeh, Rory Pilgrim and Katarina Zdjelar are nominees for the Dolf Henkes Award 2016. This biennial award is granted by the Henkes Foundation to an iconic Rotterdam artist. The jury, under the guidance of collector Alexander Ramselaar, has nominated the four artists who stand the chance of winning a sum of EUR 12,000. The exhibition featuring the nominees’ works takes place from Thursday 15 December 2016 until 19 February 2017 in TENT. The winner will be announced at the Award Ceremony on Thursday, 9 February from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.
