Picnic Time at the Museum of Applied ArtsOn show from 06th May to 17th September 2017, this exhibition takes a closer look at our fascination with picnicking, covering various cultures and eras through photographs, films, installations and other related objects. What were the posh picnics held during the Henley Royal Regatta in England like? How did people picnic atop the world’s highest mountains? How is it in the Middle East? And what could one expect to find at a picnic in Japan during the cherry-blossom season at the turn of the 19th century? This unique exhibition answers these and many other questions on the subject.“Magritte. Treachery of Images” at Schirn KunsthalleRené Magritte (1898–1967) gained widespread acclaim for his enigmatic imagery. The Belgian painter’s works concentrate on the individual motif, such as a pipe, a hat or a curtain, which then reappear in his paintings in diverse combinations and thus question the viewers’ perceptive capacities. The exhibition is scheduled to run from 10th February to 05th June 2017.
