The carnival season is about to kick off in Germany and Frankfurt will of course be celebrating the so-called “fifth season of the year” as well. Our tip: Hausmann Hall – the city’s official carnival headquarters and “party central” for the 2017 shrovetide season – will be hosting countless rambunctions theme parties between the 09th and 28th of February. The action will include DJs, live music and the usual blend of singing, dancing and merry-making.
Irrespective of all the carnival fanfare, we naturally also have plenty of new event locations, hotels and incentive ideas to tell you about for Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region.

This special guided tour, which covers some of the formerly more dangerous parts of the region, concludes with a hike to a rustic forest tavern. Suddenly, a shot rings out, followed by screams and shouts. From out of nowhere, a group of bandits falls upon the touring party. The ambush is however a friendly one, as tour participants find out on the way to the highwaymen’s camp. After a short interrogation by the head of the gang, a mild verdict is handed down: All shall live to see another day! A short theatrical play follows, based on the famous local robber story, “Das Wirtshaus im Spessart”. Afterwards, guests are invited to enjoy a schnaps and a glass of apple wine. Established over 200 years ago, Frankfurt’s municipal winery produces approximately 10,000 bottles of Riesling – known as “Frankfurter Lohrberger Hang” – from each year’s harvest. The wine is so popular that it has become one of the unofficial symbols of the city. Aside from having its own vineyard and municipal winery, Frankfurt now also has its own wine queen, Marilen Maul. Officially crowned on 23rd January 2017, Marilen I will be representing Frankfurt and Frankfurt wine at countless fairs and festivals throughout the year, including the IMEX Frankfurt, the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events.
