Albert Dock Promises Lots of Fun for the Whole Family in 2016
Albert Dock Liverpool has unveiled an exciting programme of free events for 2016, bringing music, fashion, steamboats, trains and pirates to the North West’s most-visited free tourist attraction.
This year, enjoy never-before-seen spectaculars, as well as the return of a few old favourites, including:
Steam on the Dock (May 6-8)
A brand new event bringing the UK’s only inner-city steam rally to Liverpool waterfront. Marvel at magnificent steam traction engines, coal-powered steamboats and a working steam engine from Blaenau Ffestiniog Railway and see the lovingly restored historic Daniel Adamson steam-tug returned to its former glory.
LightNight on the Dock (May 13)
Enjoy a fantastic musical promenade performance as Météo-Dock, an experimental weather-ship, 'sets sail' from the Kathleen and May schooner and celebrates the ever-changing weather of Albert Dock. Join the scientists at Tate Liverpool's Mad Science workshops and create amazing things with light and colour.
Vintage on the Dock (July 9-10)
Designers, Wayne and Geradine Hemingway MBE, return with their world-famous Vintage Festival. Browse the vintage marketplace, learn vintage dance moves - from the Lindy hop to breakdancing, experience incredible street food traders in vintage vehicles and marvel at the stunning selection of classic cars on display.
Folk Festival on the Dock (August 27-29)
Folk on the Dock presents a celebration of Liverpool's rich music and maritime heritage with live acoustic folk, sea shanty and folk rock over the August bank holiday weekend. Hear remarkable story of how the ships and crews coming through Liverpool’s docks shaped the musical landscape of the city forever and helped it to become a UNESCO City of Music.
Pirate Festival on the Dock (September 10-11)
Liverpool Pirate Festival returns with a renewed vision and a new name. Expect thrilling live action under sail and breath-taking stunts, interwoven with local folklore and the fascinating heritage of the Liverpool privateers.
