Miami Worldcenter will be the city's new multi-billion dollar, mega-retail, residential, entertainment and transportation complex. It will be built on a 1.1 million square foot terrestrial landscape; spread across six downtown Miami city blocks. RUBELL FAMILY'S ALBION HOTEL IN MIAMI COMPLETES MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR RENOVATION – One of Miami Beach's most beloved, art-centric hotels, The Albion, owned by the Rubell Family, completed a multi-million dollar renovation of its public spaces and guest rooms. Interior designer Scott Sanders, who created Ralph Lauren's interior design department, has taken Igor Polevitsky's original Albion nautical deco architecture from 1939 and outfitted it with sleek custom furnishings that reference ocean liners and private yachts. The Rubells, best-known as founders of the Rubell Family Collection, one of the most significant museums of contemporary art in the country, have owned The Albion Hotel in Miami Beach for nearly 20 years. In that time, the hotel has been the understated home to many of the people who spearheaded the transformation of Miami into one of the cultural centers of the world. The first conversations about Art Basel starting a Miami fair happened on the poolside terrace. Countless meetings of international curators, artists, critics and collectors happened in and around the pool. Thomas Maier began designing clothing for Bottega Veneta from his private office at the hotel. The artwork in the hotel comes from the Rubells' personal collection, including a lobby installation of 85 works by legendary Miami outsider artist, Purvis Young, whose work can be found in the American Folk Art Museum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. In the guest rooms, artist Sabrina Baron has created a series of works that explore the relationship between nautical flags and color field painting. On the menu expect dishes like curried octopus, conch scampi, surf n’ turf ravioli and root beer braised pork belly, created by Hutson and her chef de cuisine, Mike Fischetti. The bar program promises to be one of downtown Miami’s most exciting places to imbibe and an on-site humidor will house a variety of cigars for guests to enjoy on the terrace. The 4,500-square-foot space features an open kitchen, “living green walls” and a massive glass wine cellar. For more information, visit  www.ZestMiami.com

STANTEC REDESIGNS THE HISTORIC SAN JUAN HOTEL – Stantec, the architectural and design firm known for award-winning hotel renovation projects in Miami, has redesigned the interiors of the historic, boutique San Juan Hotel located on 1680 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. Renowned architect Henry Hohauser originally built the three-story, 76-room hotel in 1948. The guest rooms, public spaces and pool area have been refurbished with a fresh sophisticated nautical design. Design inspirations stemmed from the hotel’s original postwar modern style with nautical influences reminiscent of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Stantec’s Miami office was also behind the renovations of neighboring hotels on Collins Avenue such as the Gale South Beach, Shelborne Hotel, Aloft South Beach and The Hall. The firm continues its reign of hospitality design with the upcoming restorations of the Berkeley Shore and Shore Club in Miami Beach and will begin construction of the Yotel Hotel & Residences in Downtown Miami in September 2016.
